about

2018 proved to be a standout year for Elypsis, thanks to timeless singles like "Always Be" (featuring Arielle Maren) and equally memorable remixes, such as his gorgeous take on Stendahl & Ai Takekawa's "Soldiers." Meanwhile, fellow Australian composer Taglo officially made his label debut, courtesy of a pair of extraordinary contributions to our recent "Only Silk 05" compilation. Together they present the mesmerizing "Swimming With Sirens" EP, featuring the collaborative title cut, as well as a solo track by each of these phenomenal musicians.

The stunning "Swimming With Sirens" begins as a brooding, peak-hour progressive affair. Shortly into the arrangement, the main attraction reveals itself: a deep, after-hours bassline that reverberates through mind and body. Like a cascading wave, a buildup of rapturous, trance-influenced chords soar above the deep flow of the bassline, pushing the listener ashore in a pure state of harmony and peace.

Elypsis' solo offering "Dear Scorpio" announces itself by means of a colorful marimba, as distant vocal chants, poignant piano themes, and blissful guitar riffs complete the soundscape. Elypsis gracefully crafts a vintage, summer-flavored melodic progressive house tune, with a gently rising crescendo and an overall aura of tranquility and transcendent beauty.

Taglo closes the release with the profoundly pensive number, "Long Road To Nowhere." Haunting vocal pads echo through an expansive aural corridor, with doors alongside it that invite a bevy of other melodic and atmospheric accents. The listener traverses this pathway, as a heavier rhythm eventually takes shape and ultimately evolves into a thunderous groove.
